Acne Scar

Acne is a condition that affects thousands of people the world over; especially those who are in their early twenties and teenage years. Sometimes, it could affect people later in life too. Acne can develop out of blackheads when the dead cells get trapped along with oil in pores on the face. The pimples that occasionally burst can leave a scar that will take time to heal and go off completely.

A popular acne scar remedy involves mixing sandal wood powder with black gram powder and a little water. Wash your face thoroughly before going to bed and apply the mixture. Allow it to stay overnight and wash it off with cold water in the morning. Make a paste out of rose water, sandal wood powder and a little milk. Once you have a fine paste with no lumps in it, you may apply it onto your face and leave it overnight. Wash it off in the morning and gently pat dry. If you do not wish to keep it overnight, at least allow it to stay for about three hours before washing it off. Put a raw potato into the grinder and once you have a thick puree, allow it to cool and apply onto the face. Alternatively, mashed cucumber can also be applied onto the face. Cut a tomato in half and rub it gently over your face and especially the acne prone areas for twenty minutes or so. This prevents acne scars to some extent. As far as acne scar treatment is concerned a practising dermatologist is likely to let you know what medication to follow. In addition to this, for acne scar prevention, you must keep out of the harmful rays of the sun as they can aggravate the acne. Use a wide brimmed hat and an umbrella when going out and if possible cover your face with a scarf. A sunscreen with an SPF above 30 is an absolute necessity and must be applied on all parts of your body. A complete acne scar cure is extremely difficult and one may start by keeping the face clean at all times to ensure that blackheads and pimples do not develop and that any excess oil that the skin produces is taken care of. A healthy balanced diet is an essential part of acne scar prevention and the diet must involve 5-6 litres of water a day, green leafy vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, whole grains, lean meat, fish and yogurt.
