Cyst Causes

Cysts are closed pocket-like structures that contain gas, fluid and semisolid material that are not usually a part of the tissue, where it is situated. A cyst can be a normal occurrence, which can occur in anybody and can affect people of all ages. Moreover, it can affect any part of a person’s body. Cysts normally vary in size; some cysts can be so small that they can only be detected under a microscope, while others can be large enough to displace the other tissues and organs in the body. The exterior wall of a cyst is known as a capsule. Cysts can occur on any part of the body. They may arise due to a variety of reasons and processes within the body, which may include wear and tear, obstructions to the flow of fluid, defects in the development of organs in the embryo, infections, genetic conditions, chronic inflammations and tumors. Cysts are usually formed in reaction to an underlying cause and are preventable if the cause can be prevented. Many cysts are absolutely harmless; however, in some cases, a cyst may be a symptom of a serious condition, such as malignant tumors.

Cyst Symptoms

Based on the size and location of each cyst, some of they may not display any signs or symptoms. Some cysts are formed under the skin and are easily noticeable. At times a cyst of the tissue or the skin, that can be noticed, may be mistaken for a normal bump. Cysts that occur on the breast can often be felt when the area is examined by the finger. However, at times, cysts arise in the internal organs like the stomach, the kidneys or the liver. In some cases, such cysts neither show any symptoms nor are they easily detected by the person they affect. Such cysts can only be seen through an X-ray, and MRI, a CAT scan or an ultrasound.

Cyst Cure

Cysts can be treated in different ways, depending on the location, size and the affected person’s medical history. The fluid in some cysts can be drained with a needle or catheter, causing it to collapse. Some cysts, especially the larger ones or the ones that might be cancerous may need to be removed surgically. For the ones that occur because of a chronic medical condition, the cyst treatment aims at getting rid of the condition from the root.

Though not all cysts are cause for concern, it is best to get the presence of one checked by a doctor, to rule out the possibilities of any serious conditions.
